The press conference to present the results of the 2023 summer season was held at the Inspire Metz agency on November 23 at 3pm.

François Grosdidier, Mayor of Metz and President of Metz Eurometropole, Cédric Gouth, President of the Inspire Metz agency, Jean-Luc Bohl, 1st Vice-President in charge of tourism at Metz Eurometropole, Anne Daussan-Weizman, Deputy Mayor of Metz in charge of trade and attractiveness, and Corinne Friot, Metz City Councillor in charge of tourism, presented a very positive report on tourism, attractiveness and trade. Particular mention was made of

  • River tourism, with the extension of the Metz'o to Scy-Chazelles and Moulins-lès-Metz (+15% ridership / 2022) and tour boats;
  • Cultural tourism, including the Metz Constellations festival (1,100,000 visitors), the Hop Hop Hop festival (+ 35,000 spectators), the Mirabelle festival (90,500 participants), and the European Heritage Days (+ 120,000 visitors);
  • Visitor numbers at the main sites: Center Pompidou-Metz (90,000 visitors from June to August 2023, up 33% on 2022), Musée de la Cour d'Or - Eurométropole de Metz (29,202 visitors from June to August 2023, up 26% on 2022), Cathédrale Saint-Étienne (265,476 visitors over the same period);
  • An assessment of the summer partnership campaign (Inspire Metz, Eurométropole de Metz, CCI 57, and Ville de Metz) targeting the Grand Est, Ile-de-France, Hauts-de-France, and border countries (Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands), including billboards, especially in the Paris metro, press, a large-scale digital campaign and contests with very good click-through rates on the targets;
  • Visitor numbers at Inspire Metz - Office de Tourisme, which are gradually catching up with pre-Covid figures (+15.6% / 2022), and a return of groups to the domestic market, as well as the German, Belgian, Luxembourg and Dutch markets;
  • The Metz campsite generated 33,246 overnight stays (including 31.4% Germans, 29.3% Dutch and 21.1% French).

These figures prove that Metz is well positioned as a tourist destination in the heart of Europe, and are promising for the Metz Christmas market!
